Marian Hamm was born on June 24, 1924, in Little Cedar, Iowa, to Clarence and Mary (Guffey) Gosselin. She grew up in Brownville and graduated from high school there.
On June 16, 1946, she married Lorris Hamm at her parents' home in Mitchell County. To this union, six children were born. For the past 51 years Marian has resided in the Mason City area.
Marian spent most of her life as a homemaker and taking care of her children. Later on in life she began working in the kitchen at the I.O.O.F. Home in Mason City and then retired after 26 years. Marian was a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Mason City, and attended every Sunday church service. She had a strong belief in God.
She enjoyed watching wrestling and NASCAR Races (especially Jeff Gordon). Marian loved to sew, go to rummage sales, attend family gatherings, and spend time at the cabin in Brownville. She liked to play cards and garden vegetables or flowers. She was fond of horses, cats, and dogs. Her grandchildren referred to her as "Grandma Puffer," which came from a cat she owned. More than anything else, Marian cherished the time she spent with her family and grandchildren.
