Funeral services for William G. Terlinden, 70, of St. Ansgar, who died July 30, 1974, were held August 2 at the Schroeder & Dunn Funeral Home here with the Rev. Stephen Engelstad, pastor of First Lutheran church, officiating.
William G. Terlinden was born April 14, 1895 in Young America, Minn., the son of John and Amelia Terlinden. The family moved to a farm near Grand Meadow, Minn. in 1900 where he grew up and attended school. He was confirmed in Grand Meadow April 16, 1911 by the Rev. B. Thierz.
In early 1920 he came to assist in the farming operation of the Hoyt Buttolph farm four miles south of St. Ansgar. It was there that he met Miss Nellie Rainey, a sister of Mrs. Buttolph. They were married at the Buttolph home June 6, 1923 with the Rev. William Smith, pastor of the Osage Methodist church, officiating at the ceremony.
The Terlindens moved to Spring Valley, Minn. where they were engaged in farming with a brother, John Terlinden, for several years. In 1928 they came back to this community to operate the Buttolph farm. They later purchased a 50 acre farm northeast of St. Ansgar and operated it for 16 years. After its sale, they moved to the Robert Feldt farm just north of St. Ansgar where they resided until his health necessitated his retirement. They purchased the Cleveland home in St. Ansgar where they had since resided.
Mr. Terlinden is survived by his wife, Nellie, and one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Kroener of Stoughton, Wis. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Jacob and John of Grand Meadow, Minn. and Henry of Portland, Ore.; also two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Bierke and Mrs. Clarissa Quall of Grand Meadow, Minn.
Burial was in the St. Ansgar cemetery with Rev. Engelstad in charge of the committal services.
