OSAGE, IOWA - Christopher John Ceretti, age 31, of Osage, died Sunday, October 7, 2012, of injuries he received from an accidental fall.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage with the Rev. Stephen Bohling and the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage. Cremation will follow the funeral.

Chris was born May 12, 1981, in Des Moines, the son of Dominic Ceretti and Jody (Blakley) Wright. He graduated from Johnston High School. Chris was employed at Teluwut Grille House and Pub in Osage. He was very involved in music and enjoyed singing and was a member of Our Savior's Church Choir. He loved animals and spending time with friends and family.

Chris is survived by his mother, Jody (Herb) Wright of Osage; his father, Dominic (Yvonne) Ceretti of Des Moines; grandfather, Charlie (Cindy) Blakley of Bondurant; three brothers, Jason (fiancée Whitney) Ceretti of Altoona, Caleb Ceretti of Des Moines, Chris (Megan) Wright of Norwalk; two sisters, Chelsea Ceretti of Des Moines, Cassie (Mike) Balik of New Hampton; and three nieces, Abby Ceretti, Madison and Penny Wright.

Chris was preceded in death by grandparents, Ray and Mary Ceretti, and Joanne Mundy; and sister in-law, Dana Ceretti.

OSAGE, Iowa — Authorities this morning released the identity of a man who died Sunday after falling into the Cedar River.

Christopher Ceretti, 31, of Osage, and several other people were reportedly on the Old Mill, an unused brick and concrete structure along the river, according to the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office.

A 911 call alerted authorities shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday that Ceretti had gone into the river and was missing.

Medical personnel attempted CPR but their efforts were not successful, according to the sheriff’s office.

The incident happened on the Cedar River northwest of St. Ansgar.

An Osage man died after he fell into the Cedar River northwest of St. Ansgar, police said.

The Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office said someone called around 10 p.m. Sunday to say a man had fallen into the river and was missing.

Crews recovered the victim, identified as Christopher John Ceretti, 31, and performed CPR, but the efforts weren’t successful and he was pronounced dead.

Authorities said several people were at the Old Mill, an old and unused structure along the Cedar River, northwest of St. Ansgar on Highway 105, and Ceretti had fallen from the structure into the water.

The incident remains under investigation.

St. Ansgar is about 125 miles northwest of Des Moines.
