Everett D. White, 89, of Mitchell, Died Wednesday, January 27, 1993, at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital in Osage.
Funeral services were held on Saturday at the Faith Lutheran Church, Mitchell, with Rev. Rose Marie Lewis officiating. Champion Funeral Home of Osage was in charge of arrangements, and burial was at the Rock Falls Cemetery, Rock Falls, Iowa.
Everett D. White was born on December 10, 1903 at Rock Falls, the son of Edward L. and Mary L. (Edgar) White. He was raised in Rock Falls and graduated from high school there in 1922. He attended Mason City Junior College and the Iowa State University in Ames. He received his bachelor of science degree at Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls.
He married Ferne L. Bowen on December 25, 1928 at Rockford. He taught and coached at Fenton. Later he moved to Rock Falls, where he farmed the family farm. He taught at Rock Falls for a short time in 1948 and 1949.
In 1954 he moved his family to Mitchell where he resumed teaching in Mitchell and later in Osage. Following his retirement he did carpentry work.
He enjoyed his family and especially looked forward to Sunday get-togethers. His hobbies included gardening, fishing, and sports, and he was an avid reader. He was a member of the Rock Falls Methodist Church, and later became a member of Faith Lutheran Church at Mitchell.
Survivors include his wife, Ferne White of Mitchell; their children: Lucille and Dale Jackson, Redwood City, Calif.; Margaret and Mike Byington, Rock Falls; Don and Norvella White, Rock Falls; Janice and Don Abrahamson, Mason City; Jim and Sharon White, Tracy, Calif.; and Carol and Ray Arickx, Mitchell; and 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Judith; and a sister, Merle White.
