SMESRUD, AMUNDSON, NYMAN, TESCH

Last rites for Mrs. Herman Smesrud, who died at the Mitchell County Memorial hospital early Sunday morning following a brief illness, were held at the First Lutheran church in St. Ansgar with the Rev. T.P. Solem of Osage officiating.

Thea Caroline Amundson was born August 1, 1880 at Joice, Iowa, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Amundson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

After graduating from the seminary in Nora Springs, she taught school for seven years in Worth county.

On March 14, 1904, she was united in marriage to Herman E. Smesrud. They resided on a farm near Joice for 12 years, moving to St. Ansgar in 1916 where they have since resided.

Survivors include her husband, one son, Vernon of Osage; two daughters, Mrs. Robert Nyman of Miami, Florida and Mrs. Julius Tesch of Mason City; and one grandchild, Carol Marie Nyman. She was preceded in death by an infant son and a brother and sister.

Pall bearers were; Otto Fossey, Dr. Robert Van Nice, H.B. Hansen, Oscar Evenson, W. Leon Thorson and Paul Dasen. Burial was at the First Lutheran cemetery in St. Ansgar.
