Funeral services for Mrs. Andrew O. Severson, 85, of Carpenter who died, May 16, 1960 at the Mitchell County Memorial hospital in Osage, were held May 18 at the Deer Creek Lutheran church with the Rev. Henry L. Erickson officiating.
Inga Julia Ellingson was born October 6, 1875 in Barton Township, Worth County, the daughter of Bjorn and Barbara Ellingson, who were among the early pioneers in Worth County.
She was baptized by the Rev. Johann Olsen, and later confirmed November 24, 1889 by the same pastor.
On June 27, 1895 she was married to Andrew Severson by the Rev. Sigurd Olson. They lived on their farm in Barton Township for 42 years. In 1937 they moved to Carpenter where they made their home.
Mrs. Severson had been a life long member of the Deer Creek Lutheran church, where she had been an active member in the Ladies' Aid and the Martha Circle since its organization in 1930.
She continued to live in her home in Carpenter after the death of her husband in 1951, and enjoyed her home and good health until about three weeks ago when she suffered a stroke.
Mrs. Severson is survived by one son, Orvie; three daughters, Mrs. Arthur Houghtaling of Mitchell, Mrs. Laura McGillivray of St. Ansgar and Mrs. B.C. Boston of Waterloo; also seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, other near relatives and a host of friends.
Burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery here with Rev. Erickson in charge of the committal services.
