Ira William Dahley was born March 15, 1889 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa to Ole Iverson Dahley and Elen Ragnild Engebretsdatter Knudson, the first of their four children. His siblings were Elmer Obed Dahley (born May 7, 1891 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, died June 8, 1976 Osage, Mitchell, Iowa); Adella Elisabeth Dahley (born March 4, 1893 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, died (as Adella Benz on February 9, 1975 Rochester, Olmsted, Minnesota) and Clara (Cora) Isabella Dahley (born July 2, died July 6, both 1896 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa).
Ira was baptized on May 5, 1889 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. His baptismal sponsors were: Mr & Mrs Ole Ask; Iver N. Nilsen and Britha Dahle. He was confirmed at the same church on June 5, 1904.
Found Ira in the 1895 to 1910 censuses living at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa:
1895: Ire W. Dailey age 6.
1900: Ole Dahley 39, Ellen R. Dahley 45, Ira W. Dahley 11, Almer O. Dahley 9, Adella E. Dahley 7, Cornelius E. Shoger 25, Henry J. Shoger 20, Elling Opedal 21.
1910: Olie I. Dahli 49, Ellen R. Dahli 55, Ives Dahli 21, Elma O. Dahli 19, Adella Dahli 17.
Ira married Vina Gray on May 11, 1910 at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa. The couple had one daughter.
Found in the 1920 census living at Forest, Winnebago, Iowa: Ira W. Dahley 30, Vina Dahley 32, Margaret Dahley 8, Sadie Gray 38.
Found in the 1925, 1930 censuses living at Marshalltown, Marshall, Iowa:
1925: I. W. Dahley 35, Vira Dahley 39, Margaret Dahley 13.
1930: Ira W. Dahley 41, Vina Dahley 45, Margaret Dahley 19.
Found in the 1940 census living at Rhinelander, Oneida, Wisconsin, renting a room, managing a clothing store, four years high school: Ira Dahley age 50.

Ira Dahley died January 16, 1966 at San Gabriel, Los Angeles, California and was buried at the Osage City Cemetery, Osage, Mitchell, Iowa.
Obituary (unknown source): Funeral services were held at 1:30 for Ira Dahley, 77, who died in San Gabriel, California. The Rev. Robert Smith, Osage Methodist church, officiated with burial in the Osage Cemetery.
Ira William Dahley was born in the Meroa area near Osage on March 15, 1889 to Ole Iver and Ellen Knudson Dahley. He attended the rural schools of his area and the St. Ansgar seminary. He was married to Vina Gray of Osage on May 11, 1910. They were in the clothing business for a number of years, first in Forest City and later in Marshalltown.
Mr. Dahley is survived by his wife, Vina of Osage; one daughter Margaret (Mrs. Erick) Nelson of Lexington, Mass.; one brother, Elmer of Meroa; one sister, Mrs. Adella Norby of Rochester, Minnesota; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
