Adella Elisabeth Dahley was born March 4, 1893 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, to Ole Iverson Dahley and Elen Ragnild Engebretsdatter Knudson, the third of four children. Her siblings were: Ira William Dahley (March 15, 1889 - January 13, 1966), Elmer Obed Dahley (May 7, 1891 - June 8, 1976) and Clara Isabella (July 2, 1896 - July 6, 1896).
Adella was baptized April 16, 1893 and confirmed June 14, 1908 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. Her baptismal sponsors were: Mr. & Mrs. Ole Torblaa; Iver Siem and Clara Knutson.

Adella married Sigurd Herloff Norby on March 6, 1912 at her parent's home near Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. The couple had three children: Sidney C., Dorothy E. and Donald D.
Family found in the 1920 census living at Rock Grove, Floyd, Iowa: Sigurd H. Norby 31, Adella E. Norby 27, Sidney O. E. Norby 6, Dorothy E. Norby 10/12.
Sigurd died from the Spanish flu on November 1, 1924.
Found Adella and children in the 1925 census living with her parents: Ole I. Dahley 64, Ellen Dahley 70, Adella Norby 31, Sidney O. Norby 10, Darthy E. Norby 5, Donald D. Norby 1.
Adella Elisabeth Dahley Norby married George John Benz on October 27, 1927 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
Couple found living in at Rock Grove, Floyd, Iowa in the 1930 census: George J. Benz 36, Adella E. Benz 37, Sidney C. Norbye 16, Dorothy E. Norbye 11, Donald D. Norbye 6.
Adella Benz died February 9, 1975 at a hospital in Rochester, Olmsted, Minnesota.
