CHARLES CITY, IOWA -- Richard Kranz, 45, 1221 Poplar Street, Osage, and formerly of Charles City died Thursday (July 27, 1995) at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center, Osage.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. today at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Main and Gilbert Streets, Charles City. The Revs. Dennis D. Niezwaag and Karen Rask-Behling will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City. Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church today. Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., is in charge of arrangements.

Richard Harold "Dick" Kranz was born February 20, 1950, in Charles City, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Kranz, of Osage; and his mother, Doris Kranz of Charles City; a brother-in-law, Steve Anonson of Fort Collins, Colo.; two sisters-in-law, Deb Schwickerath and Sandy Miller, both of Charles City; and his mother-in-law, Irene Anonson of Charles City.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services were held on Monday, July 31, 1995, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Main and Gilbert Streets, Charles City, for Richard Kranz, 45, of 1221 Poplar St., Osage, Iowa, and formerly of Charles City, Iowa. Reverends Dennis D. Niezwaag and Karen Rask Behling officiated. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery, Charles City. Richard died unexpectedly on Thursday, July 27, 1995 at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center, Osage, of an apparent heart attack.

Richard Harold "Dick" Kranz was born on February 20, 1950 in Charles City, the son of Harold C.F. and Doris M. (Hahn) Kranz. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. He graduated from Charles City High School in 1968 and from North Iowa Area Community College in 1970 with an A.A. degree in police science and law enforcement. On December 26, 1975 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Charles City, he married Barbara Lynn Anonson. They made their home in Osage.

Mr. Kranz was a patrolman for the charles City Police Department before his move to Osage. He then worked at the former White Farm machinery plant in Charles City. He was an insurance adjustor for the Farmers Mutual Insurance Agency and an insurance salesman for Farm Bureau Insurance. He was a longtime car salesman for Richards Motors and Bissonette Chevrolet in Charles City and Cooper Chrysler in Osage. With his wife, he operated the former Classroom Connection in Mason City, selling school supplies. At the time of his death, he was the manager of the Casey's General Store in Osage.

Preceding him in death was his father.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara of Osage; his mother, Doris Kranz of Charles City; a brother-in-law and his wife, Steve and Deb Anonson of Ft. Collins, Colorado; two sisters-in-law and their husbands, Deb and Roy Schwickerath, and Sandy and Dale Miller all of Charles City; his mother-in-law, Irene Anonson of Charles City; and several nieces and nephews.
