CHARLES L. SCOTT -- July 10, 1871 -- February 11, 1934
Charles Leonard Scott, 62, well known building contractor of Riceville, Iowa, for many years, and a resident of Waterloo for the last 15 years, died at 12:15 p.m. Sunday at his home, 138 South Barkley Street, of heart disease.
Mr. Scott was superintendent of the Wood Products company plant, 523 Seventh Street East, and worked until a week ago.
He was born July 10, 1871, near Riceville, Iowa, in Howard county, the son of Lafayette and Melissa Scott, and married Miss Effie A. Schempp Oct. 14, 1897, at Riceville. The family came to Waterloo from Riceville in 1918.
He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church in Riceville.
Surviving besides the widow are one son, C. Lee Scott, Tripoli, Iowa; one daughter, Mrs. Goldya Andreason, 138 South Barclay street, and three grandchildren, Bobby Lee Scott, Tripoli; Goldya Mae Griffen, 138 South Barclay street, and Billy Scott Phy, Hot Lake, Ore.
A daughter, Mrs. W.T. Phy, the former Hazel Irene Scott, preceded him in death Dec. 3, 1929 at Hot Lake, Ore.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Methodist church in Riceville, Rev. W.C. Zimmerman, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Riverside cemetery. The body may be viewed at the Kistner funeral home until 9 a.m. Wednesday.
