Doris Beine, 87, of Charles City, died Thursday, December 28, 2006, at the 9th Street Chautuaqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Doris Elizabeth Swancutt Beine was born August 18, 1919, at Riceville, the daughter of Ross and Bessie (Clark) Swancutt. She graduated from the Riceville High School and attended Iowa State College. On July 30, 1940, she was united in marriage to Walter Beine at Albert Lea, MN.

Doris worked with the Iowa Department of Vocational Rehabilitation from 1965 to 1969 and with the Iowa Department of Human Services from 1970 to 1982. She was a member of the First Congregational Church and the quilters of the church, and a life member of the Floyd County Historical Society. Doris enjoyed quilting and loved the outdoors.

Living family members include a daughter, Barbara (Stephen) Miller of Westmanland, Maine, a son, Lee Beine of Tipton; a brother, Wayne (Beverly) Swancutt of Newport, Ore.; a sister, Jean Park of Junction City, Ore. and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two brothers; and a sister.
