Memorial services for Bessie Schulze, 73, who died at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center, May 11, 1973, were held on Monday, May 21 at 8 p.m. at the Schroeder & Dunn Funeral Home here with the Rev. S. Engelstad, pastor of First Lutheran church, officiating.

Bessie Caroline Schulze was born September 14, 1899 in Otranto township, the daughter of Knut O. and Gertrude Nordes Knutson. She was baptized and confirmed at the Mona Lutheran church by the Rev. A. Elmer Moe. She attended public school in Mitchell county.

She then moved to St. Ansgar and made a home for herself and her brother, Orvin Knutson. She joined First Lutheran church and was an active member of ALCW and was in the Deborah Circle.

Bessie held various positions in St. Ansgar and in 1942 began working as a bookkeeper for S.A. Kleinwort and Robert F. Kleinwort at St. Ansgar Mills, continuing there until her retirement January, 1965.

October 1, 1972 she entered Good Samaritan Center.

Bessie Schulze is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Urban (Wanda) DeNolf; two grandchildren, Sandra and Robert; one sister, Mrs. Gus (Sena) Leraaen; one brother, Orvin Knutson, niece and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mrs. William (Ina) Bowers.
