Eleanor, daughter of Carl and Edna Duenow was born on December 23, 1922 on a farm east of St. Ansgar. She attended country school and graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1940.

She attended La James School of Cosmetology in Mason City where she met her future husband, Cyril (Babe) Ziegler. They were married in 1941, and became the parents of Suzanne, Dennis and Steven. After living in Waterloo for several years they moved back to St. Ansgar and purchased the East End Grocery. After sixteen years they sold the grocery store and purchased the Sportsman Lounge, which they operated for a few years. The highlight of their lives was traveling to Arizona, California, Washington, Japan and Alaska to visit Dennis while he was in the Air Force. Their summer vacations were spent fishing in northern Minnesota, Canada and Alaska. Eleanor enjoyed going to play bingo, bridge, 500 and watching Hawkeye sports.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, husband, Cyril, daughter, Suzanne and son in law Clifford Powers.

She is survived by her two sons, Dennis (Veronica) and Steven (Candace), eight grandchildren, twenty five great-grandchildren, twelve great-great-grandchildren, three brothers, two sisters and numerous other relatives.

ST. ANSGAR - Eleanor Edna Ziegler, 89, of St. Ansgar, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

At her request there will be no funeral. A visitation will take place at Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar on Wednesday, May 2, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
