SERVICES HELD FOR
HAROLD BERENTSEN

Funeral services for Harold Berentsen, 73, were held Monday, May 6 at 2 p.m. in St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Riceville with the Reverend Kit B. Belk officiating. Mr. Berentsen passed away at his home in Riceville on Friday, May 3, following a lingering illness.

Harold Berentsen was born September 30, 1911, in Ellsworth, Iowa, the son of Berent and Sigrid Berentsen. He attended school in Bricelyn, Minnesota.

On September 21, 1945, he was united in marriage to Lydia Buls in Elma, Iowa. To this union eight children were born. He was a farmer by occupation and when he retired from farming, in 1974, moved into the community of Riceville.

He is survived by his wife, Lydia, Riceville, four sons: David, Dubuque, Iowa; Alan, Garland, Texas; Kent, Riceville and Danny, Riceville; four daughters: Mrs. Neil (Lucille) King, Eyota, Minnesota; Linda AuFenthie, Rochester, Minnesota; Karen, Mason City, Iowa; and Julie Acker, Crystal Lake, Iowa; eight grandchildren and one sister, Selma Hanna, Cresco. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ralph.

Interment was in Howard Cemetery in Elma, Iowa, with the Conway Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
