Funeral services were held June 13 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church for Mrs. Gertrude Kapka of Riceville and life time resident of the area. Rev. Thomas Manteufel, pastor of St. Peter's, officiated at the services and burial was in the Riverside cemetery at Riceville. Mrs. Kapka died of natural causes at her home on Monday, June 11.
Mrs. Kapka was born March 27, 1900 at Riceville the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Lubbert. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. On August 15, 1923, she married Julius Kapka at Riceville. They were the parents of two sons, Lavern Kapka and Orville Kapka both of Riceville and three daughters, Mrs. Gilbert Gesell (Wilma), Elma, Mrs. Ben Myers (Velda), Riceville and Mrs. Donald Kruger (Velma), Witchita Falls, Texas. She is also survived by three brothers, Henry, Otis and Louis Lubbert and two sisters, Mrs. Frank Pint and Mrs. Harry Groth all of the Riceville area; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Mrs. Kapka was preceded in death by her parents, her husband who died at Riceville August 22, 1960 and two sisters Gladys and Edna and a brother Elmer.
Relatives and others attended the funeral from Riceville, Elma, Osage, Cresco, Saratoga, Waterloo, and Denver and Minnesota and Texas.
