Funeral services were held Thursday, August 16, 1984, at Champion Funeral Home in Osage, Iowa, for George Ellsworth Emerson, 87, of Little Cedar, Iowa. He died on Monday, August 13, 1984 at the Chautauqua Nursing Home in Charles City, Iowa.

Rev. John Gilbert officiated at the service, with burial at the Little Cedar [Liberty] Cemetery.

Ellsworth was born on November 18, 1896 and was adopted by George and Hattie Emerson of Little Cedar. He was educated at the Little Cedar School and then was united in marriage to Esther Doane of Little Cedar. Together they farmed east of Little Cedar and later he worked for the Mitchell County sheds.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Vernon (Marlene) Goodale of Little Cedar and one son, Dean Emerson of Little Cedar; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Esther and one son, Carroll Jean Emerson.
