Funeral services were held on Friday, August 10, at the Otranto Community Church in Otranto, Iowa, for Lydia E. Nuehring Sopko. She died on Tuesday, August 7, 1984 in Waterloo, Iowa. Rev. H. Grossoehme officiated at the service with burial in the Woodbury Cemetery, Lyle, Minnesota.
Lydia E. Nuehring Sopko was born March 16, 1894 at Guttenberg, the daughter of Henry F. and Julia Redeman Nuehring. She was united in marriage to Rev. James Sopko in 1932 at Galena, Illinois. She served with him in the church until his death in 1973. Their last church was the Otranto Community Church, Otranto.
Lydia moved to Waterloo in 1973 and lived there until her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include one sister, Elsie Burroway of Waterloo and nieces and nephews.
