Funeral services for Joseph Kleespies, 95, a city and county field assessor in Osage, were Saturday, August 4, 1984, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage, Iowa. Rev. L. Connolly officiated at the service with burial in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Osage. He died Tuesday, July 21, 1984, at Faith Home nursing home in Osage.

Joseph Kleespies was born January 14, 1889 in Remsen, the son of Joseph and Mary Schultz Kleespies. He graduated from schools in Doon, Iowa, and was united in marriage to Mabelle Tucker on January 29, 1913 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They lived in Doon until moving to rural Osage in 1920 where he farmed. In 1948 he moved to Osage. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mabelle; one daughter, Mrs. Frances Larsen; one brother and four sisters.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Alvin (Ruth) Shelledy of Mesa, Arizona, Mrs. Russell (Jean) Taets and Mrs. Dean (Joan) Wetherell, both of rural Osage; one son, Joseph of Walla Walla, Washington; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
