ROBERT LAPPIN RETIRED OAKDALE FARMER, DIES, 88
Robert L Lappin, 88, a retired Leroy area farmer, died July 30, 1987 at the Riceville Community Nursing Home where he has been a resident since June 21, 1985.
He was born September 12, 1909 in Oakdale, Howard County, Iowa to Marvin and Helen Lappin.
Robert married Emily Mahoney on November 27, 1919. The first year of marriage they lived in Austin, Minnesota where he was employed at Hormel’s. They returned to the LeRoy area where they farmed until retiring in LeRoy. Both were employed by the Fishing Lure division of LeRoy Products Corporation. She died February 24, 1972.
Bob is survived by three daughters: Margaret Eastvold of Rochester, Minnesota; Mrs. Norbert (Helen) Gerber of LeRoy; Mrs. Donald (Carol) Mahoney of New Hampton, Iowa; two sons; Garth of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Royal of Easley, South Carolina; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one brother Leon of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and one sister; Mrs. DeLoyd (Lois) Malcomson of Burbank, California.
He was preceded in death by his wife, three sisters; two brothers; and two grandchildren. This is an unusual situation, 3 of the Lappin brothers died in the month of July; Dale Lappin, age 85, Freemond, Iowa, Ted R. Lappin 67, Whittier, Ca., and Robert Lappin, age 88, LeRoy, Minnesota.
The body was cremated and private memorial services and burial was held in the LeRoy Cemetery on Sunday, August 2, 1987. The Hutchins Funeral Home in LeRoy was in charge of arrangements.

Robert Leland Lappin was born September 12, 1898, the son of Marvin Edward Lappin and Helen Lillian (Jones) Lappin. He married Emily Mahoney, the daughter of Gilbert and Anna Mahoney.
His parents are buried in the Riceville Cemetery, Mitchell Co., Iowa.
