A crowd estimated at 600 persons, gathered at the First Lutheran church to pay last respects to Edmund Louis Herman Rosenberg, 67, who died following a paralytic stroke November 2, 1937.
Edmund Rosenberg, son of August and Augusta Rosenberg, was born December 21, 1869, in Newburg township. He was baptized January 16, 1870, and was confirmed April 6, 1884. He was married to Hattie Priem, March 28, 1893 at St. Ansgar. For three years following his marriage he made his home in Mason City and then moved to a farm in Newburg township where he remained until 1927. For the past ten years they have made their home in St. Ansgar.
Mr. Rosenberg has taken an active part in both church and community life, holding various offices in church, school and town, serving at the time of his death as City Street Commissioner, an office he had held for the past ten years. He had served as secretary of the Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance company for many years.
Mr. Rosenberg had been in apparent good health up until his stroke on Novermber 2, when he was returning from his insurance duties late in the afternoon and was found in a partial unconscious condition by his car west of St. Ansgar. Death came the following Saturday morning at the age of 67 years, 10 months and 15 days.
He is survived by his wife, three sons and six daughters, Herbert, Eddie and George, St. Ansgar; Mrs. Herman Marcks, St. Ansgar; Mrs. Edna Streich, Osage; Mrs. Alvin Ruechel, St. Ansgar; Mrs. Walter Dieterichs, Osage; Mrs. Willard Trudeau, Mason City and Louise of Osage. Also surviving are a brother and three sisters, Mrs. Helena Mielke, St. Ansgar; Mrs. Ed Krueger, New Salem, N.D.; Mrs. Wm. Nack, Grafton, and Robert Rosenberg of St. Ansgar. Sixteen grandchildren survive.
His parents and two brothers preceded him in death.
