Gilbert Anderson was born July 5, 1893 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa to Nels Anderson and Anna Maria Halvorsdatter Horgen, the sixth of their eleven children. [Two sources say his birth year was 1894].

Found in the 1895 census at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa: 1 year old.

Found in the 1900 census at Floyd, Iowa: Nels Anderson 45, Annie M Anderson 39, Albert Anderson 21, Martha Anderson 18, Lina Anderson 14, Henry Anderson 12, Oscar Anderson 10, Gilbert Anderson 6, Alma Anderson 3, Olga Anderson 7/12.

Found in the 1910 census at Cedar, Mitchell, IA: Nels Anderson 75(45], Anna Anderson 49, Gilbert Anderson 16, Alma Anderson 13, Alda Anderson 10, Lester Anderson 9, Nora Anderson 7.

Found in the 1915 census at Rudd, Floyd, IA: Single, 21.

Gilbert married Stella Isabel Odden on June 4, 1918 at Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. The couple had 4 children: Margaret J, Clarice A, Kenneth L and Gerald D.

Found in the 1920 census at Cedar, Mitchell, IA: Gilbert Anderson 26, Stella I Anderson 24, Margaret J Anderson 0[10/12], Lloyd I Odden 19, Mabel E Odden 17. That same year Gilbert moved onto the John G. Olson farm.

Found in the 1925 census at Cedar, Mitchell, IA, Farmer: Gilbert Anderson 31, Stella I Anderson 29, Margarete Anderson 5, Clarice H Anderson 2.

Found in the 1930 census at Osage, Mitchell, IA: Gilbert Anderson 36, Stella J Anderson 34, Margaret J Anderson 11, Clarice A Anderson 7, Kenneth L Anderson 3 2/12.

1932: Gilbert Andersons moved to Sorlie farm.

Found in the 1940 census at Rudd, Floyd, Iowa: Gilbert Anderson 45, Stella I Anderson 44, Margaret J Anderson 21, Clarice R Anderson 17, Kenneth L Anderson 13, Gerald D Anderson 1, Clarence I Sandiland 37.

Gilbert Anderson died May 24, 1969 at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa and is buried at the Osage City Cemetery.
