Inga Caroline Andersen was born February 14, 1875 at Nes, Romerike, Akershus, Norway to Hans Andersen (1853-1907) and Gena Petersdatter (1854-1908), the first of 10 children. Inga was baptized at Nes, Akershus, Norway on February 28, 1875. She emigrated with her mother Gena and two siblings (Anna and Peder) in 1883 to Newburg Township, Mitchell Co, Iowa. where her father Hans had rented a farm. She attended school in the area.
Found in the 1885, 1895 censuses living at Newburg, Mitchell, Iowa:
Hans Andersen 32, Gina Andersen 30, Inga Andersen 8, Anna Andersen 6, Peter Andersen 4.
Inga's younger siblings were: Anna Susan, Peder, Clara, Helena, Maria, George, Adolph, Nina and Selma Nora.
Inga married Samuel Nelson Ring on August 29, 1896 at St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa, they had no children. Their marriage was but a short seven years before Sam died. Her parents and most of her siblings left Iowa to homestead at Spencer, Ward, North Dakota in 1898 but Inga and sister Clara did not move west.
Found Inga in the 1900, 1905 censuses living at St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa:
1900: Sam N. Ring 37, Inga C Ring 25, Annie Anderson 22, Clara Anderson 15, Olaf O Rustad 30.
1905: Mrs Sam Ring, Clara Andersen (Inga's sister) and Olaf O Rustad.
(Samuel Nelson Ring was born May 8, 1863 at Denmark to Niels Nielson Ring and Anne Marie Petersdatter. Sam emigrated 1887 to Riceville, Mitchell, Iowa and soon moved to St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa. He was a farmer. Sam Ring died April 25, 1903 at St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa and is buried at the St Ansgar City Cemetery there.)
Inga married Johan Olaf Olsen Rustad on June 29, 1907 at St Ansgar, Iowa. The couple soon moved to Mountrail, North Dakota where they bought land and farmed. (Johan born April 20, 1869 Hurdalen, Akershus, Norway to Ole Kristoffersen Rustad and Inga Lovise Gudbrandsdatter, died June 22, 1952 Minot, ND.) Olaf and Inga had one daughter, Alice Inga Rustad, born March 22, 1908, died May 24, 1908 at Mountrail, North Dakota.
Family found in the 1910, 1920, 1925, 1930 censuses living and owning farmland at Crowfoot, Mountrail, North Dakota:
1910: Olaf O Rustad 43[40], Inga Rustad 35, Selma Rustad 9 (Inga's sister).
1920: Olof O Rustad 49, Inga Rustad 44, Adolph Anderson 26 (Inga's brother).
1925: Inga age 50.
1930: Olaf O Rustad 59, Inga C Rustad 55.
Inga Caroline Andersen Ring Rustad went to the hospital on October 19, 1941. She was severely ill. She had been in the Kenmare, North Dakota hospital and was sent to the Minot hospital. The diagnosis was "infection of the tissues". She went into a coma and died in her sleep on October 31, 1941 at Minot, Ward, N.D. She is buried at Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery, Spencer, Ward, North Dakota which sets across the road from her parents farm.
