MICHAEL GERHART
COMMITS SUICIDE
Michael Gerhart, 49, committed suicide Monday morning on his farm near Johnsburg, Minnesota, by shooting himself with a double-barrelled shotgun. His wife heard the shot and rushed to the house, where she found him dying. She told Deputy L. Enochson and Cornoner B.C. Cornell that her husband had been brooding over a minor assault charge on which he had been acquitted.
It is said that a neighbor obtained a warrant for Gerhart's arrest, claiming that he had been assaulted. When the case was tried, Justice Cooper found no evidence to indicate an assault, so Gerhart was acquitted.
Funeral services were held Wednesday.
