Funeral services for Frieda Worple, 71, were held on Friday, August 23 at 2 p.m. in St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Riceville with the Rev. Charles Vunghans officiating. Mrs. Worple passed away suddenly in the St. Peter Community Hospital in St. Peter, Minnesota, on Tuesday, August 20 from an apparent heart failure.
She was born March 26, 1914 in Kesley, Iowa, the daughter of John and Helen DeVries.
On November 1, 1933 she was united in marriage to Edward Worple in Riceville, Iowa, and to this union six children were born.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Lavonne) Roethler and Mrs. Robert (Diane) Joens, Riceville; four sons, Fred of Waterloo and John, Merle and Jim all of Elma; four brothers, Hommo DeVries, Elma; Ben DeVries, Traer; Floyd DeVries, Austin, Minnesota; and Robert DeVries, Floyd; two sisters, Elsena Ritzman, Nashua and Jeannette Schroeder, Elma; fourteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1976; two brothers, Jacob and Harm DeVries; and one sister, Rebecca Gerdes.
Interment was in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery in Riceville with Conway Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
