BUTTERS

Lewis Butters died at his home in Mitchell, February 22, 1903. Deceased was born in East Exeter, Maine, June 15, 1821, removing in early life to Ohio, settling in Williamsfield, where in the fall of 1861, he was united in marriage to Miss Emily Reed. Removing with his bride to Iowa in 1862, he settled in Mitchell where he has since resided.

He was the father of three children, Albert L. , Mrs. Ettle J. Dewitt and Mrs. Carrie Featherstone, all of whom were present at the time of his death. Being always an industrious man it was hard for him to give up his work to younger hands.

The funeral was held at his home from whence he was borne to his last earthly resting place in Oak Grove Cemetery.
