MRS. WILL BARKER,
OLD RESIDENT, DEAD
AFTER LONG ILLNESSMrs. William Barker, 78, one of the best-known women of the community, died at the home of Mrs. Bertha Larson about midnight Monday, after an illness of more than a year. She lingered between life and death for the past couple of weeks.

She was married to William Barker on December 25, 1876, and they moved to Esteline, South Dakota, where they resided until 1897. Then they returned to this county, which has since been her home.

Those surviving are Mrs. Clinton Carrison, Mrs. Arthur Minnis, and Lee Barker. The son is living on the home farm in Burr Oak, where she lived for sixteen years.
She united with the Burr Oak church many years ago and on moving to Osage she united with the local Baptist church, in which she was a faithful worker and member during the twenty-three years she lived here.
She is survived by the children mentioned above; also Mrs. Eva Towne, a sister, of Seattle, Wash.; and Clair Shaff, a brother, of Renton, Wash. Her husband passed away in March 1917.
Funeral services were held at the Champion Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Thursday in charge of the Rev. John D. Kern, pastor of the local Baptist Church, and burial was made in the local cemetery.
