Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 23, 1986 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage for Edmund Roethler, 89, of Osage. He died on Wednesday, August 20, 1986 at the Mitchell County Hospital. Rev. L. Connolly officiated, and burial was in the Osage cemetery.
Mr. Roethler was born on April 25, 1897, in North Washington, to Paul and Ann (Kutish) Roethler. He married Sophia Stricherz on July 4, 1928 in Waverly, South Dakota. The couple lived in Osage since 1930. Mr. Roethler had worked for Young Lumber co. in Osage, and also for the city of Osage.
Survivors include his wife, Sophia of Osage; two daughters, Mrs. Rex (Virginia) Martin of Charles City, and Mrs. Ivan (Veronica) Katcher of Cazenovia, Wisconsin; a son, Wayne; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Beulah Prohaska of Casper, Wyoming, and Viola Reed of New York; and a brother, Benjamin of Cresco.
