A serious railroad accident occurred at Primghar, in O'Brian county, this State, at 7 o'clock last Wednesday evening, in which Lars Torgerson, of this place, lost his life. The particulars as we learn them from an eye witness are as follows.

Lars Torgerson was in the employ of the Illinois Central Company, which is building a line of road from Cherokee to Sioux Falls. After the day's work was done Wednesday, a construction train was sent out after the different crews of men. As the train run into Primghar it collided with a number of box cars which had been placed on the main line. At the time of the collision, Mr. Torgerson was standing near the forward end of a flat car and was thrown between the cars. The wheels passed over his right leg and crushed his left badly. He also received fearful cuts about the back.

He was removed to a hotel and placed under the care of two physicians, but his injuries were of such a nature that human skill could not save his life. He was conscious to the last, and died six hours after he was injured.

The remains were sent here and arrived Friday morning, accompanied by two of his fellow workmen. Mr. Torgerson leaves a wife and four children, besides numerous other relatives to mourn his untimely death. The relatives and especially the sorrow-stricken widow, have the heartfelt sympathies of our people in this their hour of deep sorrw.
