A telegram was received Saturday morning which conveyed the sad intelligence of the death of Mrs. Rosa Blackstad, at her home in Minneapolis. No further particulars were received until the bereaved husband arrived here with the remains Sunday morning.
Mrs. Blackstad died in child birth, although the attending physicians pronounced her death to be caused by heart disease. Her demise was as sudden as it was unexpected and has cast a shadow of gloom over a household which it would seem has had mOre than its share of trouble during the past years. We are informed that the child, which is a boy baby is alive and doing nicely.
Mrs. Rosa Golberg Blackstad was born and raised in this township and was a person highly esteemed by all who had the pleasure of her acquaintance. She was united in marriage in September last to O.P. Blackstad and removed to Minneapolis where her husband held a lucrative position.
Deceased was about twenty-seven years of age.
The funeral services were held Monday at the Norwegian Lutheran Church and were largely attended, considering the inclement state of weather. Rev. Olsen delivered an able sermon, after which the procession formed and moved to the cemetery where the mortal remains of a beloved wife and mother new rests in peace.
The bereaved husband, aged parents, brother and sisters, as well as other relatives, have the heartfelt sympathy of all our people in the death of this young lady who had only fairly budded into womanhood. How true it is that the old must die and the young often do.
