Funeral services for a long time Otranto township farmer, Martin Robertson, 72, who died at the Mitchell County Memorial hospital, Osage, December 2, were held December 5 at Our Savior's Lutheran church in Lyle with the Rev. M. Johnson officiating. Burial was in First Lutheran cemetery, St. Ansgar.
Niels Martin Robertson, the son of Nels and Helena Hanson Robertson was born on April 1, 1898 in Worth county near Carpenter. In 1903 he moved with his parents to a farm in Otranto township near Toeterville.
He was baptized May 29, 1898 in First Lutheran church in St. Ansgar by the Rev. C. Clausen, and confirmed August 29, 1913 at Our Savior's Lutheran church in Lyle by the Rev. A.E. Moe, where Martin was a lifelong member.
He received his education in Pleasant Prairie and Drown rural schools, and attended Business College in Austin, Minn.
He spent three years at Detroit, Mich. where he was employed for General Motors, and in 1925 started farming with his father on the farm that had been his home most of his life.
In July 1945 he married Emma Tyrer of Austin, Minn. She preceded him in death in 1946.
Martin was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Austin, for 50 years, receiving his 50 year pin in 1967. He was also a member of Royal Arch Masons No.14 in Austin.
Survivors are three sisters; Mrs. Alvin (Florence) Swenson, Enderlin, N.D.; Mrs. Roy (Esther) Daub of Daisy, N.D.; Mrs. Emil (Lillian) Johnson, Otranto; a brother, Oscar of Minneapolis; two step-children, Kenneth Tyrer and Mrs. Dorothy Miller of Austin, Minn.; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Emma and one brother, Clifford.
