FUNERAL SERVICES OF 84 YEAR OLD WOMAN TO BE ON SATURDAY
Osage – Mrs. Kjersti Flatla, 84, died Wednesday night at the home of her son, Hovel Flatla.
She was born in Norway August 19, 1856, and came to St. Ansgar when 12 years old. With the exception of five years spent in California she lived the rest of her life on a farm near Plymouth, where she died. Her husband died in September, 1902.
Surviving are three children; Mrs. Ed Bilden, Garden Grove, California; Hovel Flatla and Mrs. John Koehler, both of Plymouth; an adopted son; Sigurd Flatla, Hammond, Minnesota; a brother, Paul Hvattum, Osage; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Services will be held Saturday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in charge of the Rev. O. C. Myhren, with burial in Rock Creek cemetery.

Kjersti Hovelsdatter Hvattum was born August 19, 1856 at Skjervum farm, Gran, Oppland, Norway to Hovel Torstensen Hvattum and Rangdie Povelsdatter, the oldest of their three children.
She emigrated in the spring of 1868 to Mitchell Co, Iowa with her parents.
Found in the 1870 census at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa: Hoovd T Vettrum 40, Rougdena Vettrum 35, Christina Vettrum 14, Thomas Vettrum 9, Paul Vettrum 5.
Kjersti married Borger Flatla on February 2, 1875 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. The couple had 6 children: Randi, Ole, Randi Maria, Hovel, Anna and Anna.
Found in the 1880 -1940 censuses living at Rock, Mitchell, Iowa (except 1920):
1880: Borger Flatla 43, Cristy Flatla 24, Ole Flatla 3, Rachel Flatla 2m. 1900: Borger Fladle 64, Christe Fladle 44, Mary R Fladle 20, Hovel Fladle 17, Anna Fladle 10.
1910: Hovel Borgersen Flatla 27, Anna Borgersdatter Flatla 20, Sigurd Iversrud (Eversrud) 4, Kirsti Flatla 52.
1915: Kjersti Flatla age 58. 1940: Hovel Flatla 58, Iva C Flatla 48, Helen B Flatla 17, Kaila M Flatla 14, Harold I Flatla 13, Kjeratte Flatla 83.
Found in the 1920 census at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa with son Hovel and a son of her husband's named Flatlo, age 14, emigrated 1907: Hover Flatla 37, Christa Flatla 63, Flatlo Flatla 14.
Kjersti Flatla died December 11, 1940 at Plymouth, Cerro Gordo, Iowa and was buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
