Funeral services for Irma Beryl (Pope) Osmonson, 86, St. Ansgar who died August 19, 1997 at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center, were held August 23 at the United Methodist Church here with the Rev. Ted Stowers officiating.

Irma was born March 11, 1911 in Mower County, the daughter of Alfred B. and Cora A. (Richards) Pope.

Her education began with one month in the Carpenter Consolidated School and completing 12 years in the Otranto Consolidated School, graduating in 1929. She attended summer school in Cedar Falls and took summer and evening courses from several area colleges to keep up her teaching certificate. She taught in rural schools of Mitchell County in 1929 followed by the Otranto, Mona and St. Ansgar school districts, retiring in 1976.

She was united in marriage to Denver W. Osmonson, son of Isaac and Lorenca Osmonson November 14, 1936. Her hobbies include reading, crafts, music (organist and choir director for 30 years at Otranto Community Church), traveling and entertaining friends.

Irma is survived by one daughter, Ann and husband Horace Hendrickson of Northwood; one son, Roger and wife, Sara of St. Ansgar; two granddaughters, Jill Osmonson Hill and husband Dave of Mason City, and Jana Osmonson Huebsch and husband James of Mitchell; one great granddaughter, Hilary Huebsch; two sisters, Mrs. Marjorie Nicholson, Winneabago, Minnesota, and Mrs. Velma Gaarder of Albert Lea, Minnesota; sister-in-law Mrs. Mabel Osmonson of Albert Lea, Minnesota; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, one niece and six months ago, her son Gary Osmonson.

Irma will be missed by all who knew her for her ready smile, quick wit, perserverance in times of trouble and pain, her love for others, and her faithfulness to God and the church.

Burial was in the Woodbury Cemetery, Lyle, Minneosta.
