Kittie E. Kathan 1871-1950

Osage – Kittie E. Kathan, 78, long time Osage school teacher, died Tuesday at her home here of a heart ailment.

She was born March 2, 1871 at Hardin, Clayton County, Iowa, the daughter of John and Mary Louise (Renshaw) Kathan. She moved with her parents to Preston, Minnesota, as a child, and came to Osage in 1887.

She completed her academic work here and began teaching school in 1890. She taught at Washington Grade School until the late 1930;s. She had lived alone since the death of her father.

She leaves two brothers, Burt and Charles Kathan, Osage.

Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Champion Funeral Home.
