SERVICES TO BE CONDUCTED AT HOME TODAY FOR AGED EARLY SETTLER
Services for Lars Peterson, 85, who died at his home here Sunday evening after an illness of three years will be conducted at two o'clock at the home, Rev. Olaf A. Langehough in charge. Mr. Larson had been confined to his home for the past eight months and to his bed for two weeks.
Lars Olaf Peterson was born in Hillerod, near Copenhagen, Denmark, July 15, 1850. He attended school there and was confirmed in the Lutheran church. He was apprenticed to a baker but gave it up when he was 19 to come to the United States.
For several years he made his home at Fort Howard and Green Bay, Wis., working in the timber and in sawmills. On May 5, 1876 he was married to Sarah Marie Carlsgaard and shortly thereafter they came to St. Ansgar to live. Six children were born to this union, Louise, Johannes and Marius who preceded him in death and Peter, Camille and Nina who survive. His wife died seven years ago.
Mr. Peterson was actively engaged in carpentering until his eightieth year and had good health until three years ago.
