Cordelia Ahrens, aka Cordie Ahrens
Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, August 20, 1986 at Trinity Lutehran Church in Osage, for Cordelia Ahrens, 83, of Osage. She died on Sunday, August 17, 1986 at an Osage nursing home. Rev. Dean Weibel of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mason City will officiate, and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery southwest of Osage.
Miss Ahrens, daughter of William and Margaret (Dieterich) Ahrens, was born on May 23, 1903 in Mitchell County. She graduated from Mitchell High School and attended Cedar Valley Seminary in Osage, Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and the University of Iowa.
She taught in rural schools in Mitchell County and later in the Mitchell Consolidated School at Mitchell. She also taught school in Iowa City. The last part of her career was spent in St. Louis, where she participated at Ladue School. She served in that position until retiring to Osage.
While in St. Louis, Miss Ahrens was on the script committee for the television program, "This Is The Life." She was active in community affairs in St. Louis and Osage, and was a member of the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, a volunteer at Faith Home, Osage, and was active in church activities at Trinity Lutheran Church in Osage.
She is survived by a brother, Louis Ahrens of Osage.
