Ebben Albert Wherry

October 5, 1906 – November 16, 1930

Ebben Albert Wherry, third son of Frank and Maud Sutton Wherry, was born October 5, 1906 at Melbourne, Iowa.

When Ebben was three years old, the family moved to a farm in Cerro Gordo County, Iowa and there he spend his boyhood days. He grew to manhood on a farm in Mitchell County, west of Osage, Iowa.

In 1926 the family moved to a farm near McIntire, Iowa. On the night of November 16, 1930 he met his death in an automobile accident near McIntire, Iowa at the age of 24 years, 1 month, and 11 days.

He was survived by his parents and three sisters and four brothers.

The funeral services were held in the Methodist Church at McIntire on November 18th conducted by the Rev. Zimmerman, pastor of the Methodist church. He gave a most comforting sermon and one anyone could profit by. The choir sang several selections.

It was said at the time "It is seldom there are so many beautiful flowers brought as were as this time, many relatives and friends came from a distance, there have never been so many people at a funeral in McIntire as at this time. Every available place was filled and many stood in the hall and steps, and many could not get to hear at all."

Burial was in the Wayne Cemetery near McIntire, Iowa.
