Dale Bernard Naber

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 16, 1987 at St. Peters's Lutheran Church in Rockwell for Dale Bernard Naber, 60, of Rockwell. He died on Thursday, May 14, 1987 at the Mason City hospital after a lingering illness. Pastor Orr of Cedar Falls officiated and burial was in the Rockwell Cemetery with military rites by Post 208 of Rockwell.

He was born on September 11, 1926 at Otranto, Mitchell county, Iowa, to Gerit George and Dorothy (Pike) Naber. He attended Little Cedar Consolidated High School at Little Cedar. He graduated in 1944 and then began farming.

On March 28, 1945 he joined the U.S. Army at Camp Fannin, Texas. He was discharged on May 10, 1945. He was then employed at Decker's meatpacking plant in Mason City from 1947 to 1949.

Mr. Naber married Freida Adam on November 18, 1949 at Osage. They began farming in the Osage area. In 1958 they moved to the Rockwell area and farmed until 1987 when he retired due to ill health. They then moved into Rockwell.

Mr. Naber was an avid fisherman and licensed umpire in Iowa. He umpired many ball games in the area. He was a member of the Gallagher Post 208 and was on the Legion Board. He was a past member of the Lions Club and the Rockwell elevator board.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Freida of Rockwell; three daughters: Mrs. Ernest (Colleen) Waite of Rockwell, Debra Mott of Mason City, and Mrs. Jack (Karen) Harris of Rockwell; his parents, Mr. and Mrs Gerit Naber of Kensett; four grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Thyrol (Alene) McClough of Webster City, Mrs. Vernon (Donna) Durben of Osage, Mrs. Mary Holmes of Mason City, Mrs. Dean (Lucille) McCollough of Webster City, and Mrs. Harry (Doris) Perschbacher of Albert Lea, Minnesota; three brothers: Boyd, Allen and Lowell, all of Chicago, Illinois.
