[NOTE: Svein and Svend is the same name. His mother is a Svendsdatter (= daughter of Svend), so he is named after his maternal grandfather.
(Svein is the more "Norwegian" and Svend the more "Danish" spelling of the name)

[NOTE: Sam's Norwegian name was SVEIN.
Svein was born September 18th 1872 in Seljord, Telemark county, Norway. His parents were Amund Olafson and Helge Svendsdatter.

(The obituary says he was born in Fla-Dahl, which must be garbled for Flatdal. Flatdal is an annex to Seljord parish.)

SAM OLSON
Sam Olson, 87, died this morning at St. Olaf Hospital.
A resident of Lyle, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. H.O. Johnson (Sadie) and Mrs. Donald Morgan (Laura), Lyle; Mrs. Albert Olson (Irene), Norwalk, Calif.; four sons, Lafayette and Raymond of Minneapolis, Benny of Albert Lea, Melvin of Auburn, Me.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later by the Worlein Funeral Home.
