ST. ANSGAR RESIDENT DIES; HAD BEEN ILL FOR SEVERAL MONTHS

St. Ansgar , Jan. 24 – Charles W. Bernstein, well known resident of St. Ansgar died in Rochester yesterday morning. He leaves his wife, Minnie Koten Bernstein and daughter; Miss Florence Bernstein, who teaches music and domestic science in the Sabula High School.

John Bernstein and Rose Bernstein Miller of St. Ansgar are brother and sister. There is also another brother and sister who will be here for the funeral for which the date has not been set.

Mr. Bernstein who had an operation for adhesions in the digestive system, had rallied somewhat but another operation was found necessary last evening fom which he did not rally.

Charles William Bernstein was born September 8,1875 in Wisconsin, the son of William Frederick Bernstein and Augusta (Wagner) Bernstein.

He married Wilhelmina Koten, the daughter of Chris Hans and Anna Marie Koten.
The daughter Florence Bernstein mentioned in his obit married Fred Norskow (according to her mothers’ obit). Florence was born May 3, 1904 in St. Ansgar and died August 11, 1991
