Mrs. Nicholas Clauson

Mrs. Nicholas Clauson died Sunday evening within a few minutes after being taken ill. She has, for a number of years suffered from Diabetes, which was the direct cause of her death, aided by a weakened heart. She had been subject to attacks, and when her husband noticed an illness coming on her, called a doctor, but Mrs. Clauson passed away almost before they had placed her upon a bed.

Mary Magdalene Wagner was born in Johnsburg, Illinois on November 14, 1856, and died at her home in Osage, October 11, 1924. She was baptized in the Catholic church of Johnsburg.

In September she came with her folks to Iowa, locating in Mitchell County and on January 17, 1876, she was united in marriage to Nicholas Clauson. Mr. Clauson was employed at Austin, and they lived the first years of their married life at that place. Then they moved onto a farm near there and a number of years later purchased a farm north of Osage, which was their home until 1910, when they moved to Osage purchasing a residence on south 9th Street.

Mrs. Clauson was a hard-working conscientious mother and gave her life to the upbringing of her children and making a pleasant home for her husband. Her life has been full of usefulness to the church and home. She was 68 years of age.

Besides her husband she is survived by the following children: Elizabeth Clever, Mrs. August H. Eske, Miss Christiana Clauson, Christine H. Clauson and Rudolph Clauson, all of Osage. Brothers and sisters are as follows: Mrs. Pete Dostart, Mrs. Joe Bower, Mrs. B. Schweiger, Mr. Peter Wagner, of New Haven; Steve Wagner of Chicago; Mrs. S. Blonigan, of Watertown, Wisconsin, Mrs. Albert Virchow, and Matt Wagner of Charles City. There are four grandchildren: Anita and Merna Clever, and Irene and Lela Clauson.

Funeral services were held this morning at 9 a.m. at the Catholic Church, read by Rev. Martin.
