STACYVILLE, IOWA - Michael A. Meek, 59, of Stacyville, died Thursday, October 27, 2011, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 2, at Visitation Catholic Church, Stacyville, with Father Jack McClure, CPPS, and Father Joe Fogal officiating. Burial will be in Visitation Cemetery, Stacyville.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 5-7:30 p.m. at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, 207 S. School St., St. Ansgar with a Scripture Service at 7:30 p.m.

#2:STACYVILLE, IOWA - Michael A. Meek, 59, of Stacyville, died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011 at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minn., after a 10-year battle with cancer. He peacefully left this world with his loving family at his side.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at Visitation Catholic Church, Stacyville, with Father Jack McClure, CPPS, and Father Joe Fogal officiating.
Military honors will be by Hale Penney Fuller Post No. 569 of the American Legion. Burial will be in Visitation Cemetery, Stacyville.Visitation will be held from 5-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening, at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, 207 S. School St., St. Ansgar, with a Scripture Service at 7:30 p.m.
Michael Aloysius Meek was born May 25, 1952, to Dorothy Falk Meek and the late Aloysius Meek. Dorothy later married Leo Streit and he adopted Mike at two years of age and raised him as his own son from then on.
Mike attended Visitation Catholic School in Stacyville until 11th grade when the school dropped the high school. He then graduated from St. Ansgar High School.
He married Rebecca Kisner on October 17, 1970, and together they had one son, Edward Michael Meek. He farmed for most of his life, leaving for a couple of years to serve in the Air Force. He then returned to the Stacyville area to resume the farming he loved so much.
He loved to build wood items such as tables, bars, decks and porches for many friends. His most pride and joy was his son Ed and grandchildren Jordan and Alexis. He was always happy when spending time with them at home and at the cabin on the lake.
He is survived by his wife Becky Kisner Meek; son Edward Michael Meek; two grandchildren, Jordan Michael and Alexis Kathryn Meek; daughter-in-law Corissa; his father and Mother Leo and Dorothy Falk Meek Streit; five brothers, Robert (Greta) Meek of Rochester, Minnesota, Nick (Sue) Streit of St. Ansgar, Tom (Linda) Streit of Owatonna, Minn., Paul (Linda) Streit of Cedar Rapids, Ted (Diane) Streit of Stacyville; his mother-in-law Liz Kisner of Osage; eight sisters-in-law, Mary Jeffries of Mason City, Irene (Larry) Beyer of St. Ansgar, Audrey (Bob) Donahue of Grafton, Sue (Michael) Mostek of Greene, Linda (Tom) Streit of Owatonna, Minn., Theresa (Bob) Hauber of Elkader, Iowa, Peggy (Mark) Gast of Meroa, Iowa, Shelly (Jim) Hemann of Osage, and one brother-in-law John (Patti) Kisner of Manly; one uncle, Ernie Falk of Stacyville; and many many nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceding him in death were his father, Aloysius Meek, a brother, Edward Streit; and his father-in-law, Ray Kisner.
