Hold Rites Saturday
for Former ResidentST. ANSGAR, IOWA — Funeral services were to be held Saturday at 1 p. m. at the First Lutheran church for Mrs. Gustana Olson, 88, who died Wednesday at the Cedar Valley hospital, Charles City. The Rev. O. A. Langehough officiated.
Mrs. Olson was a resident of the St. Ansgar vicinity for many years.
She was born in Hourdaln, Norway, and she came to St. Ansgar in 1879.
For the past 15 years she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Arthur Doyle at Charles City. Her husband, Olaus, died 52 years ago.
Surviving is one daughter, Mrs. Doyle, Charles City; one son, John Olson, St. Ansgar; a grandson, George Olson, St. Ansgar; a sister, Mrs. Christine Assorson, St. Ansgar; one brother, Olaf Rustad, of Minot, North Dakota.

Funeral services for Mrs. Gustava Olson, 87, who passed away on April 18, 1945 at Charles City, were held on Saturday afternoon from the John Olson home at 12:30 and at the First Lutheran church at 1:00 o'clock. The Rev. Olaf A. Langehough was in charge of the obsequies. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery.
Gustava Olson was born in Hurdal, Norway, on December 4, 1857, where she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church. In about 1879 she emigrated to America, coming to Emmetsburg, Iowa, where she stayed for some time with her uncle. In 1880 she came to St. Ansgar and joined the First Lutheran church. November 30, 1883, she was united in marriage to Olaus Olson, who passd away on October 23, 1892. Mr. and Mrs. Olson were the parents of two children; John who resides at the old farm home west of St. Ansgar; and Olga of Charles City.
During her later years, Mrs. Olson made her home with her daughter.
She was well and active till a week before she died. She spent the last week of her life at the Cedar Valley hospital where she passed away at 3:00 o'clock on Wednesday, the 18th of April.
Mrs. Olson is survived by her son, John; her daughter, Olga; one sister, Mrs. Christina Assorson; one brother, Olaf Rustad, of Kenmore, North Dakota; and one grandson.
