Departed on February 15, 2010. Resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Jessie Lynn Nagle, 84, of Cedar Rapids died Monday, February 15th at Faith Lutheran Home in Osage, Iowa. Services will be held Wednesday, February 24th at 11:00 a.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. There will be no visitation. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel. Inurnment will be in the Rotunda at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories.

Survivors include a son, John D. Nagle and wife Jean of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; daughter Cynthia L. Youngblut and husband Tom, of Osage, Iowa; one granddaughter, Tiffany Lynn Nagle of Minneapolis, Minnesota; three grandsons, Bradley Thomas Youngblut, wife Emily and son Will of Ankeny, Iowa; Michael John Youngblut and wife Erin of Dubuque, Iowa; and Toby John Booth of Winterhaven, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, brothers, husband John and daughter Carmela.

She was born June 26, 1925, to Luther Wesley and Woodie (Rothwell) McQuerry. She graduated from Williamsburg High School and the Cedar Rapids Business College. She was united in marriage to John Edward Nagle on May 22, 1948, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He died in December 1987. She helped her husband in his insurance claim adjustment business, “Nagle Adjustment Service,” until his retirement in 1983. She did life-long secretarial work, the most recent of which was at the firm of Simmons, Perrine, Albright and Ellwood for twenty years, as personal secretary to Justin W. Albright, now deceased.

Her extracurricular activities included swimming, bowling, graphology (handwriting analysis) and astrology. She was a certified water safety instructor and taught mentally challenged children. She also was an active member of the Aquarelles synchronized swim team for twenty years. The team was inducted into the Swimming Hall of Fame in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, in 1969. She taught astrology in the evening adult classes at Kirkwood for twenty-eight years, retiring in the year 2000. She was an accredited member of the American Federation of Astrologers, having passed the Board Exam on both the Teacher and Professional levels. She presented several seminars and workshops at International Astrology Conventions and also gave many local lectures to club groups, with guest appearances on television and radio. She was guest-lecturer twice on the cruise ship “Norway” in the Caribbean. She conducted a series of mini-lessons on television, called “The Astrologer’s Corner,” and wrote a weekly column for newspapers. She touched the lives of many people
