Funeral services were conducted June 7, 1948 at the First Lutheran church for Mrs. Helen Olson who died at her home Friday, June 4, 1948, at the age of 89 years. Rev. Olaf Langehough was in charge of the services. Interment was in the First Lutheran Cemetery.
Mrs. Helen Olson, the daughater of Nels Olson Hougen and Anne Paulson Olson, was born on March 1, 1859 at Six Mile Grove, east of Lyle, Minnesota, and departed this life at her home in St. Ansgar, Iowa on Friday afternoon, June 4, 1948 being at the time of her passing 89 years, 3 months, and 3 days old.
Mrs. Olson was baptized on June 13, 1859 and confirmed at the Six Mile Grove Lutheran church on October 18, 1874 by Rev. J. Olsen.
On December 1, 1881, she was married to Amos E. Olson and moved to the homestead north of St. Ansgar, where she made her home until 1908 when she and her busband retired and moved to St. Ansgar where she has since made her home. She was preceded in death by her husband who passed away on June 18, 1922, her parents, five brothers, and one sister.
To mourn her departure she leaves one sister, Miss Lisa Nelson, of St. Ansgar, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Olson united with the First Lutheran church of St. Ansgar in 1883, shortly after moving into this vicinity, and remained a loyal and faithful member to the day of her death.
