Meta Schroeder 1902-1987
Funeral serviced for Mrs. Meta Schroeder, 85, of Osage, Iowa, were held on Monday, December 21, 1987 in the Trinity Lutheran Church of Osage, with Rev. R. Hubbard officiating. Mrs. Schroeder passed away at her home on Thursday, December 17, 1987.
Mrs. Schroeder was born on August 31, 1902, at Hubbard, Iowa, the daughter of Ernest and Margaret (Winger) Hartwig. She was educated in the Hubbard schools and was married to Rev. Walter Schroeder on April 29, 1923 at Hubbard.
The couple lived in Sagerton, San Angelo and Mart, Texas, and also Lake Creek, Missouri.
In 1945, they moved to Riceville, where Rev. Schroeder was pastor of St. Peter's Lutheran Church until retiring and moving to Osage in 1967. Rev. Schroeder passed away in 1976. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Osage.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. William (Helen) Toomey, Rochester, Minnesota; Mrs. Donald (Ruth) Lubbert, Puyallup, Washington; Mrs. Arthur (Mildred) Eichelberger, Carson, California, and Mrs. Omar (Lois) Neumann, Elgin, Minnesota; two sons, Eldor, Osage, and Armin, Rochester, Minnesota; 17 grandchidlren and 18 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Clara Dubberke, Eldora, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters, two brothers and a great-grandchild.
Interment was in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery in Riceville with the Champion Funeral Home of Osage in charge of arrangements.
