Emil Schnepper, 87, passed away at his home south of Riceville on Monday of this week -- September 13, 1954.
Funeral services were held at Louper Funeral Home and at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Thursday, September 16. The Rev. Walter Schroeder, pastor of the church was in charge.
Emil Gustave Schnepper was born on February 8, 1867, in Darmstadt, Germany. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Germany, on April 4, 1991, and at the time of this death was amember of the local St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
At the age of 14 he went into the navy of his country, and immigrated to this country four years later. He settled first in Montana, then went to Kansas, California, Minnesota, and Cresco, Iowa, and finally after many eventful years came to Riceville in 1928.
In 1901 he married Etta Chandler. This union was blessed with two sons, Carl and Frank, now of Chicago, Illinois.
On December 22, 1930, he married Minnie Miller, now surviving him. This union was blessed with one son, Robert of Riceville.
Mr. Schnepper was well known around Riceville, having for many years been a dealer of Watkins products and the later part of his years he made a farm about two miles south of Riceville. He had been in fairly good health and active until last spring and finally fell asleep in the faith of his Savior last Monday afternoon due to the infirmities of old age.
Desides his widow and three sons, he is survived by four grandchildren. His brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
Interment was in St. Peter's Lutheran Church cemetery south of Riceville.
