Last rites were held on saturday afternoon for an accident victim, Earl Ring, 41, of rural Orchard, who died on July 18, 1974 at his farm home after a far had fallen on his body.
Rev. Clarke Frederick, pastor of St. John's lutheran Church near Osage was in charge of the rites at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Riceville. Conway Funeral Home of Riceville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Earl Joseph Ring was born on March 5, 1933 on a farm near Riceville to Harry and Mabel Dilly Ring. He was educated in the Riceville schools.
On February 22, 1954 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church he was married to Belvia Wood. They resided on a farm near Orchard.
At the time of his death, he was engaged as a millwright for White Farm Equipment in Charles City. He was also a welder and mechanic.
Survivors include his wife, Belvia; five children, Monty, Greg, Bruce, Teresa and Arlys; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ring; one brother, Wilford of McIntire; and a sister, Esther, Mrs. Richard Gilbert of Wildwood, Illinois.
