#2:Joseph Reckner Found Dead
Joseph Reckner was found dead at his home near Acme last Saturday. He had been drinking heavily and his family had left him for a week. Saturday his son-in-law, A. J. Dilly, went up to the house and found him lying on the floor dead, near the pantry door. His body was burned in places, a shattered lamp was found on the floor and a hole burned in the floor.
The coroner was called and after an examination he pronounced the cause of death as a broken blood vessel in the brain. Mr. Reckner evidently had started to go into the pantry carrying a lamp and the burns were received after death.
Indications were that he died on the day previous to the time found. The funeral was held at the Lutheran church south of town on Monday. He was one of the old settlers in the vicinity of Acme.—Riceville Recorder.
