Palmer C. Hegstad -- 1911-2002

Palmer C. Hegstad, 90, of LeRoy, formerly of Austin, died Friday, March 8, 2002, at the Riceville Care Center, Riceville, Iowa.

He was born June 1, 1911, in Ranson, N.D., to Paul and Clara Hegstad. On July 15, 1934, he married Ruby Danks in Minneapolis. Palmer worked at Hormel for many years.

Survivors include wife, Ruby, LeRoy; daughters, Carol (Dr. Roger) Morse, LeRoy; Jean (Lee) Hehl, Belle Vista, Ark.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth (Richard) Macy, Muncie, Ind.; Lydia Noble, Grunde Center, Iowa; nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2002, at the funeral home and Monday for one hour before the service at the church.

Service: 1:30 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Austin with the Rev. Pat Toschak officiating.

Interment: Grandview Cemetery, Austin.

Funeral Home: Hindt-Hutchins Funeral Home, LeRoy.

Paul Hagstad was the son of Paul and Clara (Peterson) Hagstad. His parents and his sister Lydia Noble are buried in the Riverside, Riceville, Cemetery.
