Obituary
The Times of Beloit, Kansas contains a notice of the death of Byron Sherwin, son of Mr. and Mrs. N. Sherwin, for many years residents of this county. His sister, Mrs. Frank Eaton, lives in this city and a brother, Den Sherwin, occupies the farm of Will Lewis near Osage. Little Byron is remembered by all of our people residing here fifteen years ago; especially because of his diminutive size. He was a boy of sunny disposition and enjoyed making trinkets for his friends. The obituary says:
"After an illness of two months, Byron Sherwin died Thursday morning, November 7, 1895. Throughout his entire sickness his condition never improved, and the anxious watchers at his bedside noted, with painfulness, that each day the spark of life was waning, and, at last, it flickered and went out.
"Deceased was born in Bremer county, Iowa, and at the time of his death at 36 years, 1 month and 4 days old**. His was a peculiar and uneventful life, and probably, was one of the smallest men living, having never grown any since his fifth year. He was three feet and nine inches tall, and at death, weighed 36 pounds. In his childhood he attended school and all his lfe was busy at some little thing. Naturally he was of a retired disposition, but there was sunshine in that little heart that made his presence ever welcome.
"The funeral was held from the homestead, conducted by Rev. Housel, and he was laid to rest in a bed of beautiful flowers beside his mother in Elmwood Cemetery."

**Based on the death date and age, he would have been born on 3 OCT 1859.
